Berlin, May 23rd, 2019 – The platform builder IONIQ Group today announces the start of its asset management company BIT Capital GmbH, focusing on listed Internet companies worldwide. The internet equity fund “Global Internet Leaders 30 UCITS” has been available for private investors in Germany since the beginning of 2019 via ISIN DE000A2N8143 or ISIN DE000A2N8127. Institutional investors have been able to participate in the positive performance of a sister fund (“Global Internet Leaders SICAVSIF”) since May 2018.

“Internet companies are playing an increasingly important role in the global stock market. Many companies will multiply in value over the next 5-10 years,” expects Jan Beckers, Chief Investment Officer at BIT Capital. “However, it is difficult for investors from outside the industry to identify tomorrow’s winners early in the dynamic internet market. The Global Internet Leaders Funds now offers the opportunity to invest together with us as industry insiders”.

Jan Beckers, co-founder and Executive Chairman of the IONIQ Group (formerly HitFox), is one of Germany’s leading internet entrepreneurs. He has been successfully investing in the stock market for 20 years and, since 2008, has been involved in building more than 10 internet companies such as solarisBank and Clark. In 2014, he was awarded with the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award as best German entrepreneur. As a business angel, he invested in the first financing rounds of highly successful internet companies such as Delivery Hero.

The BIT Capital team headed by Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Jan Beckers and Managing Director Oliver Clasen (formerly Managing Director of Allianz Global Investors), employs a team of experienced financial analysts. Most recently, Sales Manager Julian Brosch (formerly UBS) joined.

“BIT Capital combines industry-specific experience and access to active technology sector experts with classic fundamental analysis and the intensive use of sector-specific data,” says Oliver Clasen, Managing Director of BIT Capital.

CIO Jan Beckers is invested with 25 million euros of his personal funds, and substantiates the investment focus: “We are very actively searching worldwide for the most attractive Internet companies where we expect both, positive long-term development and strong quarterly results. We generally prefer companies with a valuation of up to € 30 billion which we believe will multiply over the next few years.”

The fund’s investors include other internet entrepreneurs such as Lukasz Gadowski (Delivery Hero, Flash), experienced equity investors such as Maximilian Zimmerer (formerly CIO of Allianz AG), and family offices such as Barcare GmbH. Lukasz Gadowski comments: “I have been following Jan’s passion and knack for investing for over 10 years, and been able to benefit from them in my own investments. I am delighted that with the Global Internet Leaders Fund, there is now an easily accessible opportunity to invest alongside him and his team.

Private investors can invest in the “Global Internet Leaders 30” UCITS equity fund via WKN XXX at most house banks. Institutional investors can also contact the company via www.bitcap.com.

BIT Capital GmbH is previously known as HF Invest GmbH.
